Comics 3.1.5

Turn your iPhone into a great comic reader

  • Good range of publishers
  • Easy to find comics
  • Beautiful reading experience

  • No DC comics

Very good

It would be easy to write the iPhone off as being too small to enjoy comics, but the Comics app proves it's not only possible but actually really comfortable and enjoyable.

What you can't do with Comics is import your own library - everything has to be downloaded from within the app itself. There are lots of publishing houses supported, from the very small to Marvel. Unfortunately there is no DC comics support, which means no Batman.

If you want to download a few comics, free or paid, you'll have to sign up for an account, but it's a painless process. There are plenty of free comics available to browse and download, so you can see whether you enjoy the experience before paying for anything.

Reading comics in the Comics app is a great experience. Swiping side to side to move forward or back in a story makes perfect sense. The best thing is that Comics focuses on single panes, or moves around big panes with the speech. As well as these transitions looking really cool, it feels perfectly suited to comic reading.

The disadvantage of this type of digital library is that sharing is impossible, which has traditionally been a bit part of comic reading. Despite this drawback, Comics is such a pleasant app to use you won't begrudge it.

Defined by wonderful panel transitions, Comics is a fantastic online library and allows you to get your illustrated fix wherever you are.
